THE Welsh Government has been urged to draw a roadmap out of the lockdown by Aberconwy’s Senedd member.

With the vaccination effort “firing on all cylinders" and passing the million milestone, Janet Finch-Saunders MS made the plea so Conwy businesses can plan their reopening and make the necessary preparations.

She said: “In its latest update, Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) has made clear it has now provided a first dose of the COVID 19 vaccine to 84 per cent of people aged 65 to 69, and almost a third of people aged 16 to 65 with underlying health conditions. This is fantastic news that is most beneficial in our push for a reopening roadmap.

“Crucially, with the UK wide vaccination programme continuing to fire on all cylinders, BCUHB is due to witness a significant increase in supply of the AstraZeneca vaccine, which will accelerate the vaccination rollout across its network of primary care partners. This is yet further proof that Wales is stronger when we work in tandem with our UK partners," she said.

“This roll out stands as a clear indication Aberconwy wants desperately to bounce back stronger.

"The First Minister must now empower local residents by providing a clear roadmap to recovery."

Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) said it remains on course to meet the Welsh Government’s target of offering vaccination to Priority Groups one to nine by April 19, subject to vaccine supplies.

Gill Harris, BCHUB’s deputy chief executive, said: "We also look forward to reaching the significant milestone of administering our 300,000 vaccination in the coming week.

"This week our supply of the AstraZeneca vaccine is more than double what we received last week, while our supply of the Pfizer vaccine has remained stable.

Ms Harris added: "Later this week we will begin to invite people aged 65 to 69, who have not yet had an appointment for their first dose, to contact our booking centre. This will be communicated via social media, our website and local community networks.

"Telephone number for our Covid-19 Vaccination Booking Centre: 03000 840004. Opening hours are 8am to 8pm, seven days a week. Lines can be very busy so please bear with us and only call if you’ve been invited to do so, or you’re in the priority groups described above."
