NEW recruits are being sought to carry out the delivery of a £1billion series of transformative economic programmes under the North Wales Growth Deal.
The team leading the Growth Vision for North Wales is looking to fill eight key roles as work begins on the 14 projects that make up the Growth Deal, signed by the Welsh Government and UK Government in December.
The projects will cover areas including low carbon energy, innovation in high-value manufacturing, agri-food and tourism, digital connectivity and land and property.
The successful candidates will join a team of 12 at the North Wales Economic Ambition Board’s Portfolio Management Office (PMO), located at Conwy Business Centre in Llandudno Junction. The PMO's main objectives are to create 3,800 new jobs by 2036, support an uplift of £2.2bn for the economy during that period and deliver total investment of up to £1bn.
Among the positions currently being advertised are digital project officer, two project managers for land and property, and project managers for energy and transport decarbonisation, skills and employment, graduate skills and employment, and procurement and social value.
Growth Deal director Alwen Williams said: “Now the Deal has been signed we can lay the foundations for these programmes and projects. More than ever – given the challenges of the last year – it is important we push forward and garner private sector investment while capitalising on the hard work that has taken place up to this point, by the Ambition Board and its partners, notably the Welsh and UK Governments.
“This recruitment drive is pivotal to the next stage of our journey and we look forward to hearing from candidates from across the region interested in joining us as we take the Growth Vision forward over the months and years ahead.”
The first project to get underway in 2021 under the Growth Deal is the £35m Morlais renewable energy scheme off the coast of Anglesey. There has been significant North Wales-wide investment in digital connectivity, with key sites – including GP surgeries, hospitals, and libraries – benefiting from ultrafast broadband thanks to the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, Local Full Fibre Network Programme, in partnership with the Ambition Board and Portfolio Office.
Cllr Dyfrig Siencyn, chair of the Ambition Board and leader of Gwynedd Council, said the vacant roles will play a major role in achieving their targets.
“So much progress has been made in past months, in the face of the pandemic, and the time is now to move forward and deliver on the final Deal,” said Cllr Siencyn.
“We hope to see a positive response to this recruitment drive as these are exciting roles – it’s a chance to be part of a transformative era for North Wales.”
Deadlines for the roles are Wednesday. February 17 and March 3. For more information and application details visit the Supertemps website.
