STEREOPHONICS frontman Kelly Jones is set for the release of a solo album which will follow a brand-new documentary that explores a revelation that had threatened to undermine his career and future music making.
‘Don’t Let The Devil Take Another Day’ will feature a curated list of 21 reimagined and reproduced songs and the stories behind them, having been re-recorded in a variety of locations across the UK last year. It captures one of the finest and most distinctive voices in British rock through song, anecdote, laughter and lament, and reconnects with the heart of the songs that have grown with Mr Jones throughout his career.
The documentary of the same title sees Mr Jones intimately and emotively discuss an hitherto untold story about how, whilst touring in 2019, he kept a secret from band, crew and producers that threatened to undermine his career and future music-making. The film will premiere at the Doc n Roll Festival on Wednesday, November 4 before reaching cinemas across the UK on November 27. It will be available on demand on December 3.
The double release follows Stereophonics’ latest record ‘Kind’, which marked their seventh UK No.1 album and added to eleven Top 10 albums, 24 Platinum Sales Awards, 8.5 million albums sold in the UK alone, 5 BRIT nominations and 1 BRIT Award win.
The ‘Don’t Let The Devil Take Another Day’ double release was the perfect opportunity for Kelly to step away from the constraints that come with being a rock star to create something more spontaneous, vulnerable and truly intimate.
Speaking on the new album and documentary, director Ben Lowe said: " You recognize there's something pretty special happening on-stage if the performances, and the stories [Kelly] was telling between them, can make an audience laugh and cry on the same night.”
The album is due to be released on December 4 and is available for pre-order via Parlophone Records.
