A FORMER pupil returned to his former school for his wedding day.
Henry Lee, a former Rydal Penrhos pupil, tied the knot with Victoria Dean at the school’s place of worship on Saturday, August 29.
The special occasion took place over the August Bank Holiday Weekend.
Henry, whose parents took a ship from Hong Kong to Liverpool in the 1960s and were the first to establish takeaway restaurants in several towns across North Wales, was a pupil at the school from the ages of 12 to 18, leaving in 2000.
Reverend Nick Sissons, chaplain of Rydal Penrhos who conducted the service, said: "It was a lovely occasion, the confetti flew and the sun made a rare appearance, which was a great blessing after the awful rain of the previous few days."
Victoria hails from Devon. She met her new husband through their shared medical professions.
The couple live in Manchester and have a 15-month-old daughter called Primrose.
Pete Williams, director of music, played the organ during the ceremony. This was prior to risk assessment by prep school head Lucy Davies, who is leading the school’s Covid-19 protocols.
The couple chose Calon Lan to be played even though they couldn’t sing it due to restrictions.
The congregation were carefully socially distanced across the church, with reserved and named seats, making sure that nobody was closer than two metres to the central aisle, leaving plenty of room for the bride and her father to walk down it.
Henry's sister Lisa is also a past pupil. She attended the school under Michael James’ headship in years following the merger of Penrhos College and Rydal School on the present site in 1999. She was given the honour of reading from the bible during the ceremony.
Mr Sissons added: “I am sure that staff and alumni who remember Henry and Lisa will want to join us in wishing them all the very best for their married life together.”
