A FORMER Royal Marine found dead aboard his boat in Conwy is believed to have hanged himself.
An inquest into the death of 47-year-old Carl David Hemmings was opened in Ruthin by the coroner for North Wales East and Central John Gittins.
He said that on July 15 North Wales Police were alerted by harbour staff that washing had been left hanging on Mr Hemmings’ boat for a few days.
When they investigated they found Mr Hemmings, of Lower Gate Street, Conwy, apparently sitting up, but with a ligature around his neck.
Pathologist Dr Mark Atkinsn gave the provisional cause of death as hanging, but the inquest was adjourned to a full hearing on a date to be fixed.
