ASSEMBLY member Janet Finch-Saunders is one of the first contenders to throw her hat into the ring to become the Conservative Parliamentary candidate for the Aberconwy constituency.
The seat has become vacant following the decision by Guto Bebb, the current MP, not to stand again in any forthcoming election.
Mrs Finch-Saunders became the AM for Aberconwy in 2011. Previously she had served on Conwy County Borough Council and Llandudno town council, and at one stage was mayor of Llandudno.
Janet said: “I have been inundated by residents and local businesses to stand for Aberconwy.
“I want to achieve improvements in services in Wales which I think have been badly run and as a member of Parliament I’ll be better able to hold the Welsh Government to account for their decisions.
“I want to be involved in helping make Brexit a success particularly for residents and our farmers and businesses in Aberconwy.”
Married with two grown up children she has been a local businesswoman and entrepreneur.
She has stated her political interests are ensuring more investment in health and social services – particularly for the elderly and those suffering with mental health illnesses; reducing regulation and red tape for farmers; ensuring the full rollout of superfast broadband to rural areas; supporting small and medium-sized businesses, and reducing waste in Government at all levels.
A keen sailor she is also passionate about animals and marine conservation.
