A CHARITY event in memory of a Penrhyn Bay soldier is being held.
Daniel Jones is honouring his childhood friend Lance Corporal Craig Roberts with a charity bowls competition on August 1 at 6pm in Rhos Park Bowling Club, Rhos on Sea. The event attracts about 400 people every year.
This year money is being raised for Combat Stress, a charity that helps former servicemen and women with mental health problems such as anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Craig, 24, was among three SAS reservists - including L/Cpl Edward Maher, 31 and Cpl James Dunsby, 31 - who died after a 16-mile (26km) exercise in the Brecon Beacons in July 2013.
Daniel said: "Craig was my best friend from a very early age and we enjoyed so many happy times in and out of school together.
"He really was a one off and an inspiration to everyone who knew him.
"We are fundraising in aid of Combat Stress as a tribute to Craig's memory. It means a great deal to myself personally and to all of Craig's family and friends."
Attendees can watch some of the best bowlers from around the UK compete.
