A top North Wales football club is set to get a big upgrade to its facilities.
Members of Conwy’s planning committee meeting next Wednesday will discuss a planning application from Llandudno FC for a new club house and stand.
The club was recently relegated from the top-flight of Welsh football this season.
But they’ll be hoping to make a comeback from the Huws Gray Cymru Alliance next season and enjoy their upgraded ground in the Welsh Premiership.
Councillors will get to look at the plans, which have been submitted by Dorothy Langley, for a new two storey club house with terrace seating that would be located to the west of the pitch for the Builder Street West club.
The new works would replace previous developments at the ground that have seen an ad-hoc building of different facilities around the pitch.
A report to councillors on the committee said the development would be a positive change for the club.
It said: “The proposal is for a two storey building containing changing rooms, executive suite and terrace seating to improve facilities of the club, and it replaces existing ad-hoc buildings and containers at the site. Whilst the proposed stand would be visible from the surrounding area, it would be a significant improvement on the existing arrangements on-site.
“Officers consider that the development would not significantly alter the
character or appearance of the locality, the street scene, or the nearest principal areas of the historic landscape.”
The building would be 26.4 metres in length by 20.6 metres in depth by 11 metres in height, it would also house a bar and have room for 123 spectators in the terrace stand.
No objections to the plans had been received by the committee by the time the report had been prepared.
A meeting of Llandudno’s town council supported the application and has recommended that the committee approves the plans.
With planning officers also recommending that permission be granted, it is expected the plans will get the green light from councillors on Wednesday when they meet at Bodlondeb.
