THOUSANDS of parents and youngsters turned out for Prom Xtra ’19, a family fun day, on Colwyn Bay’s promenade.

Families were entertained at the event last Saturday May 11 with an exciting bike show performance, a giant Scalectrix, a magician’s act, kayaking, quadbikes, cricket, and footgolf, activity workshops, live entertainment, an interactive animal display, and a funfair, all sorts of stalls and various entertainments.

There were heaps of opportunities to have a go at kids’ quad bikes, segways and kayaking.

Younger visitors enjoyed The Wheelie Play Bus, a converted double-decker bus which acts as a soft play area for children ages three to eight.

There was also a range of artistic activities such as a sand art workshop. Visitors also saw the Prom Xtra reptiles and insects and the Pet Place will be providing a fun area for dogs as well as advice and guidance for dog owners.

Cllr Steve Williams, Mayor of Colwyn Bay, said: “It was a fantastic day and it was great to see the families having fun on the beach. I was greatly impressed with the variety of live music heard throughout the day, there was something for everyone. I thoroughly enjoyed walking around seeing such happy faces on my last event as mayor. What better way could there have been to round off my year in office on such a glorious happy day.”

Cllr Louise Emery, Conwy County Borough Council’s cabinet member for economic development said: “Every year Prom Xtra offers a brilliant day out to families, and once again this year didn’t disappoint. It was a fantastic event and offered so much free entertainment for all ages and to suit all tastes. Prom Xtra proved to be the right environment for a great day out with friends and family.”
