KARTING star Ben Hingeley was at his best to secure fifth place in the ABKC British Championship.
The 15-year-old Ysgol Emrys ap Iwan pupil went into the final round of the tournament in seventh place, and needed a good finish to take a top spot in the table.
In qualifying at the Shenington event, Abergele racer Ben landed a second and fourth placed finish, and scored points in the next day’s two finals.
A disaster in the final qualifying round saw him smashed over a kerb at the chicane, losing 15 vital places in the standings.
But Ben dusted himself down to finish a credible ninth place, and a fantastic drive in the grand final saw him take fifth overall, securing the same spot in the standings.
Ben will be awarded his official British number five ranking at the Auto Sports Show next January.
