RHOS-ON-SEA students are appealing for their teachers to donate much-needed goods to people using nearby foodbanks this Christmas.

Coleg Llandrillo’s 12 Days of Christmas campaign will see college staff donate a range of items including fruit and veg, basic foodstuffs and sanitary products.

The additional learning needs students, who are studying at the college’s independent living skills department, decided to help foodbanks as the project for their course in pre-vocational studies and preparation for further education.

All the donations collected will be dropped off at Conwy Foodbank and Ty Hapus in Llandudno.

The students are requesting donations such as soup, pasta and rice; soft drinks; pet food; tinned vegetables; toiletries including sanitary products; coffee, tea and sugar; baby products; tinned fruits and desserts; and small toys and stocking fillers.

Helen Chambers, tutor, said: “We are asking staff for donations which will be donated to food banks at the end of the 12 days. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 restrictions, we can only have one collection point.

“Can I take this opportunity to thank our students and all the staff for their kind donations. We are sure that they will benefit lots of families in our local communities this festive season.”

Coleg Llandrillo’s independent living skills department runs courses for students with mild to moderate learning disabilities, severe learning disabilities and social and emotional behavioural difficulties, which are tailor-made to meet individual needs.
