Ysgol Aberconwy Year 11 students have matched the record breaking success of their Year 13 colleagues last week by achieving the school's best ever GCSE results this week.

More students than ever gained at least five GCSEs at A*- C (including English and maths), well over half gained A or A* grades and 99 per cent achieved at least fiveGCSE passes.

Head teacher Ian Gerrard said that he was delighted that students had received the rewards that their hard work deserved.

He added : “It is heartening to see that traditional values of hard work, dedication and high aspirations really do hold the key to success and to opening the door to a bright future for our students.”

Special congratulations go to Chloe Bailey, Helena Griffiths, Morgan Hogan, Emily Holt, Anna Hughes, Joseph Macmanus, George Pullin who gained a string of A* and A grades.

Success was achieved in both traditional academic subjects as well as in the school's newly developed vocational courses in catering, engineering and motor maintenance.
